The refrigerator air-circulation fan blade (impeller) is a plastic rotor mounted on the fan motor shaft. It pushes cold air through the evaporator and distributes it throughout the compartments. In No Frost systems, it’s essential for even cooling, fast temperature recovery, and proper defrost operation.

Typical problems include cracks or deformation, imbalance, rubbing against the shroud due to ice buildup or misalignment, and wear of the motor bushings/bearings - causing noise, vibration, and weaker airflow. Common symptoms are increased noise, poor cooling even though the compressor runs, uneven temperature inside the compartment, ice buildup around the fan area, error codes, or the unit stopping shortly after defrost.

Fixes usually involve removing ice and cleaning the area, checking the fan blade mounting and alignment, or replacing the blade or the fan assembly. Always unplug the refrigerator before working on it, if ice returns quickly, the defrost system (heater, sensor, wiring/control) should also be checked.
