Oven lamps and glass covers (lenses) provide interior lighting and protect the bulb from direct heat, steam, and grease. The cover is usually made of heat-resistant glass and is secured by a screw thread or a clip so it can be removed for bulb replacement and cleaning.
Typical issues include a burned-out bulb, a cracked cover due to temperature shock or impact, threads sticking because of baked-on grease, or a worn sealing ring that causes loss of tightness. Common signs are no light, grease/condensation marks around the cover area, or visible chips and cracks.
Fixes usually involve replacing the bulb with a heat-rated oven lamp, cleaning the mounting area, and replacing the glass cover or seal if damaged. Always work on an oven that is cool and unplugged.
